Eastham Human Service Advisory Committee

Minutes of October 12, 2010

The meeting was called to order by Mary Sedlock, Chairperson
Present: Mary Sedlock, Gordon Major, Carl Lipton, Elaine Lipton, Judi Izikewicz.
Also present was Sue Canavari, who has applied to serve on this committee.
Absent: Margaret Phillips, who has also applied to serve on this committee.

Gosnold,inc. Mary introduced Raymond Thayer, President/CEO.
Mr. Thayer describe the ongoing services, as well as new services that Gosnold is providing to it's clients here on the Cape. Gosnold has been providing these service for the past 38 years.

Thumbnail of overall services offered to the community, continuum of care,acute and ambulatory. Inpatient and Outpatient care.
The number of Eastham residents receiving treatment is 61 this is up from last year, requiring more service units.


New Programs:
Retraining for returning servicemen
changing the face of addiction
working with area hospitals for training in treating patients with withdrawal during a hospital stay

Q and A

 program running at near capacity at all times
 no other inpatient facility on Cape
 increase in Eastham clients, thus the request for increase in monies
 payer of last resort, unfunded or underfunded care
 last year they spent $2100.00 for Eastham, and we granted $2000.00

Eastham Committee on Early Childhood.  Mary introduced Patricia Lee Beaulieu, Director presented a brief overview of the program.

Many changes in the program, creating a quality program, while sticking to a vision

 
 a safe place to learn to be good people while learning their part in the community
interactive programs with other schools, Nauset High School,  Outer Cape Technical High School.

bake sales at Elks twice monthly as new fund raising program

MEMBERSHIP  Mary introduced Sue Canavari who is interested in serving on this committee. Mary also stated if our new members are not appointed soon, we will not have a quorum to vote.

Visits: Mary and Carl visited Mass Appeal Wednesday Oct. 6th.
Carl and Gordon to visit Sight Loss Services Oct. 18th.
Judi to visit Homeless Prevention  Oct. 25.
Mary will call  Outer Cape Health Care and Cape Cod Human Services to come here for presentations.
Mary will be seeing Ms.Vanderhoef to discuss our membership, and budget.
 Gordon moved to accept minutes of 10/05 be accepted as sent,Carl seconded.

 With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
